We recently launched our Ongair + Facebook Messenger integration and are excited to see that hundreds of people have already taken it up. So we've come up with a couple of ways to help you promote your account and make the most of your customer service experience via messenger.
1.USE A URL SHORT LINK
Facebook has "quietly" launched a URL short link fb.com/msg/ that instantly opens a chat thread with a business when clicked by a user. ( source )
How it works ?
When tapped by a user, this short link will start a chat conversation with the user either on the Messenger app, or on Facebook’s mobile web or desktop site.
This is a fantastic way of getting users to talk to you via Messenger especially if you’re looking to have more users contact you through the app instead of the business page.
For instance, if your business name is cranberry your short link will be fb.com/msg/cranberry
What you need ?
First you’ll need to clean your URL. No one likes messy urls, no one can remember them either, so the first thing you’ll need to do is shorten your URL and select a username.
Here’s how to do it.
1.Login to Facebook with the account that is tied to your business page.
2.After you are logged in, visit: http://www.facebook.com/username/ and you should see a page that looks like this:
3.Follow the instructions, confirm your username before you set the URL, click Okay and you’re good to go
Once done you can share this short link with your customers and begin chatting with them through the messenger app.
2.HAVE A QUICK RESPONSE TIME
One other way to promote your business account on messenger is to ensure you have a quick response time. If your business achieves a 90 percent response rate to messages within 24 hours over the past week, your Messenger handle will become searchable on Facebook. This can be a good way to promote in-bound messages which in future could translate into ad avenues.

Facebook Messenger is also planning to introduce ads this year. Although this information hasn’t been released officially, sources say that users of the app should expect to see ads in the second quarter of 2016. Luckily (for users), brands will only be able to send ads to people who have voluntarily initiated conversations with the business before.
