WeChat launches direct call feature
Chinese messaging giant WeChat recently launched their new service WeChat Out that allows users to make calls to mobile phones and landlines from within the app.
Although the service is currently available in the US , India and HongKong the company promises to expand its coverage into more countries in the near future. The move which has been seen as a direct challenge to Skype is aimed at making low cost (global ) calling available at the highest quality possible.

Since its launch in 2011 , WeChat has grown by leaps and bounds to become not just one of the biggest messaging apps in the world but an entire platform in itslef.
The application which boasts a wide variety of features and functionalities , can be used to do everything from mobile money transfer to ecommerce , entertainment and much more.
WeChat has expanded into all sorts of services, partnering with different companies to let users shop, book flights, or hail a taxi, all through a single app.- The Verge
WeChat Out now appears as a new option in the expandable menu when users click the ‘+’ symbol at the top right of the home screen.
